KIIP Completion Process

KIIP has 6 levels (0–5), totaling up to 415 hours. Each level requires class attendance, a tuition payment, and passing an assessment. Completion of all levels opens doors to permanent residency and citizenship.

  • Level 0 — Hangul Basics: 15 hours | FREE | no assessment required
  • Level 1 — Basic Korean I: 100 hours | ₩100,000 | end-of-level test
  • Level 2 — Basic Korean II: 100 hours | ₩100,000 | end-of-level test
  • Level 3 — Intermediate Korean I: 100 hours | ₩100,000 | end-of-level test
  • Level 4 — Intermediate Korean II: 100 hours | ₩100,000 | KLCT mid-term test
  • Level 5 Basic — Korean Society (residency): 70 hours | ₩70,000 | KIPRAT
  • Level 5 Intensive — Korean Society (naturalization): +30 hours | ₩30,000 | KINAT
  • TOTAL: up to 415 hours (0→5 complete)

🪜 Completion Process (Level by Level)

  • 1. Take the Placement Test at socinet.go.kr → get assigned a starting level
  • 2. Register for a class at your level (semester-based)
  • 3. Attend all classes — aim for 100% for ₩50,000 refund
  • 4. Pay tuition fee via My Page after class ends
  • 5. Register for and pass the level assessment
  • 6. Repeat Steps 2–5 for each level up to Level 5
  • 7. After Level 5 Basic: take KIPRAT → receive KIIP completion certificate for F-5
  • 8. After Level 5 Intensive: take KINAT → receive certificate for naturalization

🏆 What You Receive After Completion

  • KIIP Completion Certificate for Permanent Residency (영주용 이수증)
  • KIPRAT Pass Certificate → used when applying for F-5 visa
  • KIIP Completion Certificate for Naturalization (귀화용 이수증)
  • KINAT Pass Certificate → used when applying for Korean citizenship
  • Official recognition equivalent to TOPIK levels for immigration

📅 Realistic Timeline

  • Fastest possible (intensive): ~2–3 years from Level 0 to Level 5
  • Average learner: ~3–5 years (depending on work schedule)
  • Levels 1–4 each take one semester (~4-6 months) per level
  • Early placement test = start at higher level = finish faster
  • Missing classes = re-taking the level = longer total time

You cannot skip the tuition payment between levels. Your level will not be recorded as complete until payment is made, even if you passed the assessment.

Take the placement test seriously — a higher placement score means starting at Level 3 or 4, saving you 1-2 years. Study basic Korean before the placement test if possible.
